Meet Jack
Jack Tatooles is a dedicated, experienced leader and Village President of Inverness committed to preserving our village’s unique heritage.
Under Jack’s leadership since 1997, Inverness has established itself as a beacon of fiscal transparency and accountability, eliminating all village debt and achieving some of the lowest tax rates in Cook County—all while earning a coveted AAA Bond Rating. These cost savings have allowed the village to triple its investment in road resurfacing without raising any taxes or fees.
As village president, one of Jack’s proudest accomplishments is the establishment of the first-ever Inverness Police Department, which has provided an enhanced service to village residents all while saving taxpayers nearly $10 million dollars since its opening in 2009.
Driven by a cause close to his heart, Jack oversaw the construction and dedication of the Inverness Veterans Memorial. He successfully raised over $350 thousand from private donations for the memorial which honors a local fallen Marine and pays tribute to all who have served.
After returning from two combat tours in Vietnam with the United States Fleet Marine Forces, Jack earned his Juris Doctor from the John Marshall Law School. He began his legal career as an Administrative Aide to two Illinois Attorney Generals and later served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Cook County, where he prosecuted a wide range of misdemeanor and felony cases, including both jury and non-jury trials.
In 1973, he opened his own law firm and is established in Inverness where he continues to practice law today, and has been admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois court system as well as the Illinois and United States Supreme Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Military Court of Appeals.
Jack is passionate about his community, always being available to take meetings or calls from residents, and continues to work tirelessly to address everyone’s concerns. Prior to his election as Village President, Jack actively participated in various civic and Blue-Ribbon Committees. He also served as President of his homeowner’s association and took part in overseeing several community projects.
Jack and his wife, Doris, have raised three children and are the proud grandparents of two grandsons. His father, Peter J. Tatooles, was not only a dedicated attorney but also a passionate advocate for art and music, instilling in Jack the importance of public and civic service, which has shaped his commitment of service to his country and community. In his free time, Jack enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, along with the occasional round of golf, jog around the neighborhood, or Cubs game.
